The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. Tell us what mysteries of the rosary are your favorite.
If you have time, tell us more. Do you have a favorite decade? Do you associate events from you own life with your favorites? Have your favorites changed over time?
Thank you for participating!
Love,

I really like the Joyful Mysteries of the rosary. I pray them over and over again when I am in labor. With my last child, we were still trying to decide on a name for a girl. We had narrowed the choices down to Elizabeth and Bridget. The mystery of the Visitation really spoke to me and when our little girl was born, I called her Elizabeth before confirming with my husband that we both agreed on the name. Afterwards, I explained why I decided on the name Elizabeth. She is also named after St. Elizabeth of Hungary and St. Elizabeth of Portugal, as these two saints were the original reason for choosing the name.

This was a tough call, but I went with the Glorious because my very favorite mystery is the Assumption. I love to think of Jesus coming to get his mother, and what a joyful time that was... and what relief Mary must have been feeling to think: whew! This earthly sorrow thing is finally over!
How happy they must have been to be all together in heaven.

I honestly can't pick. I suppose I feel least connection to the luminous mysteries, although we always pray for clergy/seminarians that day which makes them precious and the children love remembering Cana and mama Mary saying "do whatever He tells you"...but I love the others for different reasons and in different ways.

I chose GLORIOUS! These mysteries call me to heaven through Jesus and Mary, they help me to see their beautiful relationship and my hope for entering into this relationship more deeply...to see heaven and remember the promise of eternal life!!!
Melinda, I too LOVE the Assumption. I have a cute child story...one of my littles, while we were discussing the Assumption, said, "So you mean that Mary's body shot up to heaven, like a torpedo?!" Can you tell this child is a boy ? He was sooooooooo thrilled at the idea of the physicality of the Assumption and the swiftness to heaven!
Lucy, I hope this poll question hasn't put you in a pickle, like when your child asks, "Who do you love best, me or them?" referring to his siblings . Thanks for sharing!
Anyone torn to pick a "favorite", don't let the word deter you from sharing your connection to the rosary here . My favorite today may change tomorrow and I'm sure that each set of mysteries, each decade has been a "favorite" somewhere in my life. I remember the Transfiguration meaning so much to me for a stretch of time when we were struggling financially. The Visitation connects to my miscarriage. The Nativity IS Christmas! The Agony in the Garden is every time I weep in my prayer chair as I collect myself to face suffering.
Blessed Month of the Holy Rosary to all!
Love,

I chose the Sorrowful Mysteries. A close second are the Joyful, but I feel a very deep connection to Jesus and the Apostles praying these mysteries. Jesus speaks often to me during the times I am praying the Sorrowful Mysteries.

I really like the Luminous Mysteries. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th always give me lots to meditate on. Jesus' work during his public ministry - there are signs of his love, power, strength, everything all around us every day, but do we just take those as a given or do we see God's love revealed in them? The Transfiguration - we always want and long to see God, but we are so unable to comprehend who he really is, what he is like, that when he reveals himself so completely we don't get what it means or how we should react. The Eucharist - available always, in fellowship with other Catholics, we can adore Jesus in the Eucharist, receive him, and rejoice that he wants to transform us and help us conform more closely to his plan for us.
Peace,
Nancy

I love the Joyful, and always have (although now with the Luminous they run a close second). It's the events in the Joyful mysteries that I can identify and place myself more readily, with a woman and mother's heart.
I can't pick an absolute favorite.

GLORIOUS for me! I need all the hope that these mysteries offer, esp. in times of tribulation and suffering.

The Luminous Mysteries for me ... particularly the Transfiguration.
"Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain to pray.
Jesus was transfigured before them.
"His face became as dazzling as the sun, his clothes as radiant as light."
This was to fortify their faith to withstand the coming tragedy of the Passion.
Jesus foresaw the 'scandal of the cross,' and prepared them for it by this manifestation of His glory.
Moses and Elias (representing the Law and the prophets of the Old Testament) were conversing with Jesus about His passion.
"Do not think I have come to destroy the Law or the Prophets... but to fulfill them."
From a cloud came a voice: "This is my beloved Son, listen to Him."
Jesus admonishes them not to tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man rises from the dead.
We too will behold the transfigured Jesus on the Last Day.
...This was to fortify their faith to withstand the coming tragedy of the Passion. ... I can't even articulate the stir of emotion this brings me. Powerful. Awesome. Beautiful.

I chose Glorious because my kids LOVE the picture of the Resurrection. They like the faces of the soldiers as they see Jesus and the picture of Jesus conquering death. Every time we pray the Glorious Mysteries, we discuss the Resurrection with zeal, even, if you can believe it, more enthusiasm than when we discuss the Nativity (read Christmas by the kids!).
God bless,
Christine

I know I answered Joyful, but as we were praying the Luminous, I realized that the Miracle at the Wedding at Cana is my favorite mystery.
