I asked for prayers last week or so for relief of my RA symptoms. Well, the dr today put me on 80mg a day of prednisone to try and get my flair-up under control. I HATE the side effects of prednisone but guess I will have to try and deal with it----
I wouldn't be asking but tomorrow we have a BIG family reunion, Sunday our priest of 38 years is having a BIG party, and my Danny is leaving for the seminary on Tuesday, and we have started school......I just need you all to pray me through this---I have awful mental side effects, and it won't take much to "set me off"
I'm thinking of just staying home for these events, but I might regret that later, I just don't really know what to do...

I wish I had some advice...prednisone is just no fun.
You have my prayers, in abundance.

Oh dear, Joann! I'm so glad that you will have some relief from this RA flareup...but the side effects! And right now?
I'll pray for you!

Prayers and take each event one day at a time. I know the feeling of being easily "set off" and my only side effect I suppose is being 7 1/2 mos pregnant in on-going 105 degree heat. Soo, mine may be hormones but I swear I felt better tonight after sitting outside (too late after dark!) and spending time w/ some of the neighbors as opposed to how I've felt allll this week. May be it was just the "mental break" I needed. Soo, at least trying the event tomorrow to see if it helps lift your spirits might work. I hope so and hopefully the meds will help and the side effects will be minimized.
God Bless,

Praying, Joann!!! I had to go on 60 mg for my asthma for several weeks years ago....oh.my. It was not pretty. I think you should try to go to your events.....but like someone else said, one day at a time....often one minute at a time!!! Keep your yarn near (and your Rosary!)

Joann,
Remember that I am not too far away. Let me know if you need anything. Seriously. Be assured of our prayers.

Praying, Joann .
I know you are well versed at taking care of yourself but just want to add that it helped me a lot to have a loved one "assigned" to watch me when I wanted/needed to go to events but wasn't feeling well. I would feel solely responsible for moniteriing my health which would feel completely overwhelming - impossible! My worry would increase which made me feel less well which made me worry more ... It was a huge relief to know that someone was watching out for me.
Love,
