Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am debating purchasing this book St. Joseph Atlas of the Bible for my 8 year old (our oldest). Does anyone have this book and use it with younger children? My 8 year old loves to read and is very curious. This seems like it would be very interesting for him and in conjunction with the RC History program.
What do you think?

That looks like a great book, Susana! I saw on Amazon that they have it in paperback, too. I just love coming here and finding new book recommendations!

I own the book.

The publisher has sample pages on its website St. Joseph Atlas so you can get a feel for the reading level.

I found that it was more useful for myself and my older students but the younger children did enjoy seeing the pictures of bibical lands and figures.

BTW a great book for all ages when studying the New testament is Daily Life at the Time of Jesus by Miriam Feinberg Vamosh.

I have seen this book as a resource in many 9-12 CGS atriums, as well as Catholic Montessori schools. We have it and my 6 year old reads it and studies the maps (he has a high reading level and LOVES geography) - but based on the response I get from him afterward, I would still lean toward older ages.

The 11 and 12 year old girls who spend time at our home are only just becoming interested in it.

So I would say purchasing it for your 8 year old would be a good investment.

Thank you! I think my 8 year old will definitely enjoy it! He loves reading encyclopedias, our world atlas, and even our antique family Bible!

ekbell,
We actually do have that book you recommended! We got it at a thrift store for $.50! The kids really like it :)
