I am in need of a well-written bio of St Augustine, at the lower high-school level, which would include not only his life story, but a bit of a synopsis (or excerpts) of his works as well.
Any recommendations?

Hmmm, not sure if I can really provide something with a synopsis, but here's what I can provide, starting

Not for high school, but I thought I would mention this thread: St. Augustine Picture Book

This is middle-school on up level, a Vision book, but OOP, St. Augustine and His Search for Faith by Milton Lomask

Historical Novel, very well-written: The Restless Flame: A Novel About Saint Augustine by Louis De Wohl.

Have you looked at his autobiography, The Confessions of Saint Augustine (Image Book)? That might be quite doable at this age.

These suggestions might be somewhat above level. You might be able to pull out some meat regarding his writings, or it might be on target for your son:

The Fathers of the Church: An Introduction to the First Christian Teachers by Mike Aquilina

Pope Benedict recently give his Wednesday audiences distilling on the Fathers and Church Fathers. St. Augustine is in this collection: The Church Fathers: From Clement of Rome to Augustine by Pope Benedict XVI.

Companion Guide to Pope Benedict's the Fathers by Mike Aquilina will help distill a few things.

Would this book be appropriate for an 8th grade girl? Someone had mentioned to me that because of Augustine's early life, this would be more suitable to older readers.
