Wow! we are having quite a heat spell, and are desperately in need of a rainy spell. So, how hot is it where you live? I am in Maryland, where our local thermometer hit 107 yesterday ! Trying to stay hydrated...

Peace,
Nancy

Our thermometer is on the porch, so in the shade it was 97 yesterday. Today is supposed to be higher.

I'm planning on lying low today. Running errands in the heat is really yucky. Parking lots and cars just make it worse.

... its SO hot....

(sorry, couldn't resist )

My car said 103 yesterday. DH and two boys are outside all day at scout camp this week. Whenever my bros and their sons do scout camps, it rains. For us, record breaking heat. This is why I stay home....

Too darned hot! It's supposed to be 100 today. With the humidity that feels like, what, 150? OK maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration But my feet are swollen from all this heat and I'm not even pregnant!

We have just a few window a/c s here so we try to keep things as cool and calm as possible. My suburban was damaged by a large tree limb last week so we can't pile in and go to the pool (we don't have rental coverage unfortunately) as it is still in the shop and as of today it looks like it might be totaled because the repair costs are going too high which means we'll need to find another large vehicle.

OK enough whining. At least I have nice cold iced tea to sip!

80's today and tomorrow.. which is up from the 70's of the last week which is up from the 50's prior to that.. it's been a cold early summer. We normally start getting summer temps in mid-June and probably only really getting those started this week. But it's up from there.. with the days after these hitting in the 90's

I think we'll concentrate on getting some outside chores finished up the next two days and let the house slide a bit longer.. easier to work in the house in the heat than outside

We had our hot last week - today is only supposed to be 69 today, but back into 80's by weekend. Brrrr....it's too cold for me - I like it hot

I think our outside thermometer reached 105 yesterday - in the shade. I'm used to hot and muggy here, but it's seemed early and relentless lately. I'll try to remember that I wished for warmth when I was digging out from 3 feet of snow.

The Pacific Northwest has been unusually cold! Noon temp on Monday was 58.

It's supposed to reach high 80s by the end of the week, then back down. Give me sun!

Oh Mary, Jodie, and Michaela, can I come for a visit?! Perfect temperature for me is 70 degrees with no humidity! I love to sleep at night with blankets and quilts piled on.

Here in MI is hasn't been nearly as hot temperature-wise as the ladies in the above posts have had to deal with. Our high is around 90, but it's soooo humid! I'm sure being pregnant doesn't help and we don't have air conditioning (yet!) so it's hard to find relief. Jenn mentioned how yucky running errands is in the heat. I'm trying to think of errands to run just so I can be in the air conditioned car and stores!

As a matter of fact, I need someone to "talk me down". I'm on the verge of taking the kids to McDonald's playland just so they (and I) can get out of the heat for a while.

Editing to add - I just walked into our family room and the kids are watching an old Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer video! I think they're dreaming of cooler weather!

Mary, your "hot" and ours out here is missing 2 more "h"s -- hazy and humid. I remember how last year you said you weren't used to the humidity. For the WYD the heat never bothered me!

We're doing lots of reading today.

Oh, I wanted to ask if in your area, do you get Air Quality Alerts based on the Air Quality index

Today is Code Orange.

I just saw two Dominican nuns in full habit at JoAnn fabrics this morning. Kind of gives me a new perspective on feeling hot today.

Sure does give a different perspective, Michele...but maybe that's why they went to JoAnn's - it's cooler there than at home.

*My* car doesn't have a/c - well, technically it does, but it's kaput and the cost of the repair is way too high for a 10 year old car with 250,000 miles on it. Oh well..

Peace,
Nancy

That's what I was thinking.. my van has great a/c so I have been known to "find" errands to do on really hot days.. a/c in the van, a/c in the stores.. but not a/c at home

95 so far today. The Pacific Northwest is sounding good to me!

Michele's comment reminded me of a comment our priest made a few weeks ago when addressing appropriate dress for Mass. He said he was wearing four full layers to say Mass, and he was just hoping that most people could manage one full layer! It would be funny if it wasn't so true!

I will say an extra prayer for all of you without AC!

FINALLY! A bit of WARMTH! We've been freezing around here.....I think I read there have been only 2-3 days above 75 since last SEPT!

It's 70 right now, and supposed to get up to about 85 or so!!!!!!!    We are outside in the sun soaking up every bit of it! The kids are in HEAVEN to finally be able to wear a swimsuit and play in the backyard without a sweatshirt.

I just had to laugh

Our temps in Sunny South Florida was WAY cooler than you all up the east coast. Our high today was only supposed to get to 85 and our low has been in the 70's.

THAT never happens!!!

We are enjoying our "cool" days but I am dreaming of being by Mary or Suzanne these next few weeks when we get back into the high 90's with 90% humidity.

Stay cool Ladies!

It is currently 52 and completely fogged in. I occasionally catch glimpses of some sort of bright shiny orb in the sky (I think it is called "the sun" but I can't be sure) trying to peek through the clouds. At least it isn't raining like it has been for the last...how long has it been? The memory only goes back so far...

I was just thinking the other day that YOU & Co. were probably not frolicking "sans sweatshirt" these days either!

And, Mimi...that's funny, because in LA the other day it said it was only in the 70's!    WHAT is this world coming to?
