I love all of my children dearly of course. But this week it is just me and my youngest. And it has been lovely!
I had all sorts of plan to get work done while everyone else is away. I quickly realized that I needed to spend this time with my little guy! He has never had mom to himself before. And these past few weeks I have been immersed in planning a summer day camp for my 11 yodd American Heritage Troop.
We have gone to the park, snuggled on the couch, read picture books, gathered wild flowers and just spent time together. I have gotten work done, but only things we could do together. Tomorrow we are picking up a few of his buddies and going to the splash park. We are having such a nice time together.
I needed this week to slow down and focus on him for a change. Everyone adores him and his sibs fight over who gets to put him to bed or read him a story or take him to the park, or whatever, so often I don't spend time with him. Its great really getting to know my little man!

That is so sweet LeeAnn. My older kids were all away at a VBS this past week. The first day home with just my 2yo wasn't so great. He kept crying, asking for all his siblings by name, going to the door and asking if it was time to pick them up yet, etc. I thought I was going to get a bunch of work done while they were all away but it wasn't happening. Then I decided I just needed to spend that time with him so we read books, I actually went outside with him to swing, he helped me pull weeds in the garden ... sort of . I realized too, that I just needed some time with him and it turned out to be a very peaceful week!

Sounds just wonderful, LeeAnn! Thanks so much for sharing this--it's inspiring me to take a little one-on-one time with each of my littles.

He made me dinner tonight!
He made me stay in the family room and he went out to the garden picked lettuce and veggies. He washed them, chopped them and tossed with dressing and shredded cheese. He was so proud to "take care of mommy" He put the salad on a nice tray with a napkin and a wine glass full of ice water.
It amazes me the grown up/baby dichotomy of my 5 year old son!
