Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was in Sears today and saw a whole array of truly beautiful First Holy Communion dresses marked down from $75 to $24.99.

Matching sets of headbands and bows were marked down from $12.75 to $1.99. They also had little sateen chapel jackets to wear over the dresses marked down to $6.99.

If you are planning a FHC next year, it might be worth checking out. They also have some on their website under clearance girls clothing. The prices were better in store, and there was a great selection of sizes and styles at mine.

Ooh I'll have to look for the Chapel Jackets - We'll likely get DD's dress used at the thrift {gotta love $1 Mondays!} but they often are sleeveless or worse.

Did they by any chance have shoes to go with on clearance as well? I never seem to find church shoes for DD in white.

I didn't have a chance to look at the shoes, as I had my helpers with me. (I was lucky even to be in the store ).
The chapel jackets were nice, since many of the dresses (but not all) were sleeveless.

Here's a great place to get a FHC dress for free, though...
I noticed that often when I stop in the office of the DRE at church she has a FHC dress of one type or another hanging in her storage closet. One day my dd and I saw one in there we thought was really pretty, so I asked about it.

The DRE said that people are always bringing her dresses they are done with or just want to donate, and she is always looking for someone to take them. She asked if we wanted the dress we were admiring... Um, yes!
It should fit just about perfectly in a couple of years when dd needs it.

I didn't feel bad about taking it, because on the same hook right behind it there was another pretty dress looking for a home. Who would have thought?

An interesting idea would be to start a FHC dress swap/pass along at church....
