Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I requested this book from the library based on someone's recommendation, I thought from this board. I can't find the OP when I do a search! Am I losing my mind?

Stories from the Americas, collected and translated by Frank Henius, illustrated by Leo Politi. I think it was MaryM or Jen who recommended it. It includes the story of Our Lady of Altagracia, much more "accurate" than the picture book.

I found a copy when I heard the recommendation. The stories are wonderful, and the illustrations are icing on the cake. Wikipedia mentions that this book was a turning point in Politi's style of art.

Thank you!

Yes, the book is beautiful! It's on my wish list.

I'm so thankful that I am able to view a lot of the recommended books through our ILL system!
