Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you determine a child's reading level?

When I was a teacher there was a word list we could give and wherever the child stopped reading, was their grade level.

Also many books have grade levels written on back.

There is also a way to find the reading level of a book. I cannot remember exactly, something about counting the words. i'll find out

One thing I have found is I can pick up a book and say it says "grade 2" and another one that is grade 2 adn one is CLEARLY more difficult. I think it is a good thing to know about in case someone asks you.

There is the "lexiles" which I found a little odd.

Thanks, Roxanne. I did a search on google and found something interesting. If you have a document in Microsoft Word, you can choose the Tools, then Spelling, then options. Under the options you can select Reading Level. It will then scan the whole document or paragraph and tell you the reading level of it. I did also find the word lists.
