Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

One of the greatest blessings for me during this Year of the Priest (besides welcome reminders to pray for our priests, bishops and Holy Father) has been the discovery of blogs written by priests. There are some truly heroic men out there, living out sacred, challenging vocations in difficult times.

One of my current favorites is Standing on my Head. I am learning so much from Father Longenecker's weekly reflections on the Lord's Prayer. (And he has a great sense of humor, which I also appreciate!)

Have you found a blog written by a priest that really helps and inspires you? Please share it here!

I daily read What Does the Prayer Really Say by Father Zuhlsdorf.

The Hermeneutic of Continuity by Fr. Tim Finegan is another.

Just linking an earlier thread as well - Can you share your favorite priest's blog.

I've also enjoyed finding many of our local priest's blogs this year - not wide readership for those in general but definitely of interest and benefical.

Vultus Christi with Fr Mark...there is a focus there for spiritual motherhood for priests. He is very profound.

I think it is a great blessing to have priests blogging for the santification of the readers..I've just taken a quick peek at Father's Our Father series Nancy, I'm going to go back to that and have it as a read aloud with my children this week, we are studying the Our Father and what it means at present.

Oh, I just realised Servant that you mentioned Father Mark, my eyes were focusing on the blue links only, so I'm backing you on that recommendation!

I'm thankful you added the link for Vultus Christi, Annie....I simply cannot figure such things out and it's more likely that someone will go to the site with your helpful link. Vultus Christi is a website that always inspires me, especially in praying for our beloved priests. I am hoping and praying that many of us will continue to uphold our dear priests in prayer long after the Year for Priests has ended.

Spiritual motherhood of priests is a very meaningful and much needed apostolate. In addition to Fr. Mark's inspired efforts in that area there is an excellent OOP book worthy of reading for inspiration in that regard; "Woman, Her Influence and Zeal as an Aid to the Priesthood", by Very Rev. James Alberione, SSP, STD Copyright 1964 by Daughters of St. Paul.

Oh thank you for the name of that book Servant! I'll track it down. I found one in my cupboards, never knew I had it! Mothers of Priests by Rev Fr Robert Quardt.

I understand that Fr Mark is writing something at present for spiritual mothers? A prayer book, perhaps? I sigh over my memory, it is so bad...

Servant, you make a very good point. We as women and mothers must pray for and encourage vocations. I feel very blessed to know two young men (one from my Webelos den, one from my co-op classes) who are responding to God's call this year. I want to dedicate time to praying for and supporting these young seminarians. I will look for this book...thanks!

One small tip that has helped keep intentions for priests ever-present is to slip a picture or written note under a glass counter-saver in our kitchen...it keeps the priests and seminarians we are praying for ever in mind. We also have names of all living, deceased and future priests we are praying for on Post-it notes on the cover of our Chalice of Strength prayerbook (from www.opusangelorum.org).
