Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I think my dd needs to continue her vocab studies.

She did not like Wordly Wise this year (it is a long, sad tale...), so I am looking for recommendations for other vocabulary books.

Thanks for your suggestions!

I have been pleased with these books for my older children in public school, and they would be easily adaptable to homeschooling (in fact, I think I'm going to go order some right now for next year!)

My son has used the Sadlier book, but now we're using Vocabu-Lit. He likes the literary passages.

I do vocabulary with some of my 8th graders and some don't need it. I have used a variety of vocabulary programs. We do really like the Sadlier Oxford (happens to be what Kolbe uses. My edition has a really nice feature - online pronunciation of the words.

I have modified what I require depending on the child. One of my children, we didn't do anything but listen to the words - she knew the meanings and didn't need vocab work, but she sure pronounced some things in odd ways.

Others we did more - some everything in the program and one child we only did 1 year of vocabulary in 7th or 8th. I think we skipped it entirely for our most voracious reader.
