Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Moms~

I know I would like to try RS Math...and went to their website...and am completely overwhelmed.

What on earth do you but the first time?

I am pretty sure she needs level B--but then there are so many options for level B.

What is the difference between a "Standard" Abacus and a "Classic" one?

What is the deluxe kit compared to a normal kit?

Any thoughts?

Here is the link for Right Start

The classic abacus is wood, while the standard is plastic.. that is the difference there.

Basically, there are two choices: regular or deluxe version for level B
and then you choose wooden or plastic abacus.

The deluxe version has 7 extra items in it over the regular. One of them is the Math games book, which is very nice to have (though you can buy it separately later). It also has extra worksheets for practice.

When I bought level B, I bough the regular starter kit with the wooden (classic) abacus.   The deluxe version wasn't available then.

If I were buying now, I would probably go with the deluxe version with the plastic abacus. The wood is nice, but plastic would also be fine, and I would love to have the games book, which I am now buying for level C anyway.

HTH!

When I purchased mine they didn't have the deluxe set, but, you could pay extra to get the appendix printed. This is not necessary, HOWEVER, it was worth every penny I paid to not have to make the copies (in different colors and weights of paper).

I also purchased the wood abacus. This is a personal preference which one you choose. Both are very nice quality and if I had to make the decision over I would be happy with either.

I've found the staff at RS to be very helpful. Give them a call and tell them what you have done so far. They will stear you right.
We skipped Level A as I have so many Montessori materials that we use for the 3-6 age....
Now we are on Geometry and love it still!
