Ladies -
I am at a loss this morning. I have a 3.5 lb chuck roast in the crockpot to make BBQ for dinner. What should I serve with it to round out the meal????
Thanks!

Well, as a Southerner, cole slaw comes to mind. I would think that any sort of vinegar-y salad would help cut the barbecue taste well.
A good sturdy roll is a nice accompaniment.
I keep thinking of baked beans, but I'm not sure how well that "rounds out" the meal. Rather, it is likely nostalgic to me.
Maybe just some simple green beans for a veggie side?

Lindsay beat me to it! I was going to suggest exactly the food items she recommended.

I have the same thing on my menu for Wednesday! I have planned to serve it with rolls and green salad (no fans of cole slaw here) and fruit.

I grew up with baked beans and BBQ (they just seem to go hand in hand)...and of course, I would have either green beans or a green salad.
Yummy!!
Can I come over?!?!?!

Cole slaw. Mexican corn and black bean salad (olive oil and lime juice; chopped red sweet pepper; cilantro; canned beans and corn; best made early in the day or the day before so that the flavors blend well).
Funny, but that's on our Tuesday menu.
Peace,
Nancy

Well, I guess I'm Irish because some sort of potato came to mind. Scalloped or Au Gratin. I would also go with the slaw and rolls of some sort.
Of course, if it was August I would say corn on the cob!

I think potato salad can also go well with bbq.. eat it all the time with bbq pork ribs..
so rolls and potato salad and green salad.. yumm
no clue what I'll make for dinner here.. recovering from a cold that had me down yesterday.. something easy would be nice.

I love potato salad with bbq--I use this Ina Garten recipe. (We're having it tonight with meatloaf and a green salad, in fact!)
