Prayers of praise are in order because Beijing says "yes"!!!!! We are now "expecting" a new daughter, Jiang Xiao Hong. Her paperwork from the orphanage in Guilin mentioned that she lives at the "House of Love" there. I did some digging on the internet and found that it is an accessible house on the grounds of the orphanage managed by Australians and Americans who just plain adore the kids. There is a 2 kids to 1 caregiver ratio. They have a small school there. I spoke with their American contact and she said that Xiao Hong is the most precious, motherly girl. She comforts the new children with handmade toys, and sings them to sleep. She is artistic and loves to sew (by hand), even making outfits for the other children. She has cerebral palsy but walks with a cane and rides a bike!!!!!!! She tells people she wants to be a famous fashion designer in New York City! We'll sign her up for sewing lessons as soon as she gets here. Our first homestudy visit is Friday. Of course, this is the week that my youngest decided to try to dye a pair of socks with food coloring ON HIS BEDROOM CARPET. It won't come out and I can't afford new carpet, so pray that the social worker has a sense of humor. Sigh. With all the paperwork we are expecting to go get her sometime in the fall. I told the agency that ds is getting married on October 9 and I have to be here for that. For now, lots of household organization, tidying and paperwork. Oh, and we were thinking of calling her Katie in honor of a very saintly older woman we love in our parish, but they call her Helen. If she uses Helen as her name in China, we'll keep it, maybe adding Katherine to have the Katie part, and then her Chinese name Xiao Hong.
One more interesting thing--the charitable website lists her as 12 years old as of last December, but the paperwork from Beijing says 13. She's so tiny, and I'm ok with 12. Since dd Annie is 12 (dob 19/29/97) and ds Daniel is 12 (dob 4/9/98) I could have 12 y.o triplets!!!
Praising God and thanking you all for all the prayers and encouragement. Please continue to pray for her and for all of us as we wade through the incredible amount of paperwork. God is so, so good.
