It is fast approaching.....May 4th, this coming Tuesday, Lily will have her jaw distraction. The link for jaw distraction has one of the best explanations and pictures I have seen! If you click on the arrows for “how distraction works”, it shows exactly what Lily will have done. We have been waiting to do this for two years....and I will be so relieved when we get it done! Lily will be in surgery for about 4 1/2 hours, probably an hour or more will be just getting the girl to sleep....she is not an easy anesthesia case.
The good news in all of this is the end result is likely getting Lily’s trach out, hopefully by her third birthday in August, or shortly after....that is our goal! I have talked to Lily about her surgery, shown her pictures....it is heartbreaking, she signs, “Lily cry, hurt"  Poor girl...this is the worst, Friends, having to place my baby on that surgery table, and knowing it is all for the good, but she will suffer greatly getting to the end result.
Please pray for great pain control, a successful surgery, for Lily to leave all of the hardware on her face alone (that will be there for 6-9 weeks), safe travel for us, for NO allergic reactions for my highly sensitive food allergic kids coming along for the ride, and fortitude and good humor for all.....it is going to be a long haul.
I am so thankful for your prayers, I really am....I’ll have someone update post op Tuesday, her surgery is scheduled for 10am EST.

Oh dear, dear 4 Lads Mom! This is heartbreaking to read. Sweet, sweet Lily.  I am marking May 4th on my calendar and we will pray the entire day for Lily and your family, you will have all of our prayers that day, my friend. I can not imagine having to go through this. Stay close to Our Sorrowful Mother, she will comfort and sustain you.

We are praying constantly here for precious little Lily. We are especially asking the intercession of Saint Therese the Little Flower - have been saying the Rose Novena:
O Little Thérèse of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.
O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence in your hands (for precious Lily and her family)
St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as you did, in God's great love for me, so that I might imitate your "Little Way" each day. Amen.
Praying to for everyone else and you especially. And for the surgeons, anesthesia people etc.
Please give the darling darling girl a hug from all of us here. Her 2 year old buddy here even knelt down and "said" a decade for her yesterday during Rosary (even if it was like the Children of Fatima before Our Lady appeared - just Our Father,Hail Mary, Holy Mary, Glory Be!!!)
I will be drinking lots of cups of tea and being nervous with you tomorrow.

Praying fervently as well for your Lily and you and all your family for a safe travel and safe surgery and that God's hands will guide and direct everyone who touches and cares for her from the time she leaves your arms to the time she returns. May everyone feel God's presence and comfort and peace in what she has to endure and may the pain meds work really, really well!

Praying for Lily, for you and your family, for her surgical team, for a successful surgery, for her quick recovery and healing, and for her to be able to feel well and smile.
We'll include all these intentions in our rosary tonight, and I'll be praying throughout the day tomorrow. May the Blessed Mother wrap Lily, and your family, in her mantle.
