...but your family enjoys them! These are books that aren't classics, haven't received awards, didn't make it to paperback, had one printing, are out of print, and/or fell through the cracks of popularity. Looking for gems!
What made me think of this topic is that my 4yo's current favorite book is
My Mom and Dad Make Me Laugh.
We've enjoyed it for years and yet I don't think I've ever seen it on any "must read" list. It is funny, includes a nod to Seurat's "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte," and has hidden "clues" prior to the punch-line. Sweet and clever!

My ds3 has me reading at least 3 PB Bear books a day. He is a huge fan. Yet I don't think DK publish them anymore.
My favourite line is in PB Bear Sandcastle Surprise when they go "splishing and sploshing in the sea"

My son recently pulled out Don't Fidget a Feather I forgot how much I love that book! My 3yo was laughing along with us!
