Do you keep a prayer journal?
Do you list each name when you say your prayers and offerings? I tend to get distracted when I do this, I start thinking of them and my mind wanders!
Do you just say the novena/prayers for those who have been commended to your prayers without naming the person?
Seems kind of silly, but I'm wondering how others handle this.
Thanks, Valerie

I have been thinking about this lately, too.
I *used to* keep a box of index cards with a pen inside. Some of the cards were for the people in my life that I am always praying for (family and close friends) with any current specific prayers written on their card. Some were topical things I wanted to remember to pray for my marriage, our blueberry farm, our church, etc. I could list specific items on these cards as well.
I *think* I actually found these helped keep me more focused during prayer. I might detour slightly if I remembered something to add to the cards, but usually would come back before too long.
I think I tend to be a bit ADD during prayer time and the physical cards helped keep me focused.
I really need to do this again. My prayers have been all done "on the run" lately and I could use some focus.
Thank you for asking this question

I struggled with this for years....we finally hit on the idea of a prayer jar...it's actually a tall, clear, empty vigil candle holder, with crosses etched on two sides, that we found at Goodwill. We put slips of paper with various intentions inside, then during prayer time we light a votive candle that sits on top. I keep strips of paper (cut with scrapping scissors) and a pen resting beside it so we can record intentions as soon as they come to mind.

Valerie, I don't think this is a silly question at all.
I was just thinking or re-thinking my present method...just praying from memory(especially at Mass)...and I know I always forget someone. When I am online I try to visit the "we pray to the Lord" forum alone when I have a bit of free time and just pray then and there. Sometimes these prayer times can be very intense.
At one point I had started a notebook which lives in one of my purses and never gets used. I am interested in what others have to say.

one way we pray as a family for other families is we keep all the Christmas photos we get in an album in our prayer room. We flip through the book and pray for each family. Then when the next Christmas comes around we exchange the new photos for the old. This esp. helps for those non-readers in our house.
I find that Mary is so helpful to me in reminding me who I have promised to pray for. I also remind my priest to add that on to the daily Mass intentions so that when I've forgotten to pray I can specifically lift someone up at Mass.
I have one mom that I pray a hail Mary for everyday. That I dnn't seem to forget

Thanks, I have decided to start a prayer journal, I may do it by Novenas that I say, for example, a page for St. Perigrine and then all those for whom I am praying for there. One of my problems is the distraction that comes with listing each persons name when I pray. So I will work on that. My dd is going to keep a journal too! They really are watching our every move!!!!
I plan to add Christmas pictures too. That's a really good idea.
Anyway, thanks for helping me think this through.
Valerie

I have a prayer list. This is the one I have. My friends Laura and Michael make and sell them. I received an unfinished one, and we stained it to match the rest of our woodwork.
