Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello!

This is my first year teaching our preschool faith formation in our parish. I have come to find that the materials are disorganized and of poor quality. I am looking for a Charlotte Mason based and/or beautiful preschool faith formation curriculum to purchase for our parish. Any ideas?

Rebecca, here is a list of the preschool religion curricula from the bigger publishers. Of these, I have used or reviewed about a third. The only one I would recommend is Image of God from Ignatius. The main drawbacks of this program are: cheesy art and the fact that there is one program for three years (if you had 3, 4 & 5 year old classes)--it can be a little boring for a more mature 4 or 5 year old if they have to repeat the program and also for the catechist. However, the benefits are: a solid orthodox program of catechesis, which mostly outweighs the negatives.

Another program you might consider is Family Formation from the Church of St. Paul (Ham Lake, MN), the preschool program is called Little Lambs, however it's made mainly for home use.

LTP has "Celebrating the Lectionary" which our parish uses, but being a lectionary-based program, supplementation is necessary to cover doctrine and prayers for the kindergarten kids. Sample lesson We use the archdiocesan children's prayer books for this.
