Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When Less Is More

One of the fun things about conferences is the chatter and references--one learns the most fascinating things in passing from others who share their passions.

This article seemed so interesting, and since returning, I've seen many references to it as well!

It makes sense! I also remember Raymond Moore suggesting waiting until 8 to teach reading.

If I had the guts, I'd wait. Unfortunately, I have to make some kind of accounting to the school board every year on progress, and I'm too chicken to have a face-off over educational philosophies. However, everything that I've read, supports waiting, and how much time and tears could be saved. Sigh.

Now I understand why I didn't *get* maths.
Not until I re-learned it with my son did I begin to understand.

I've just decided to scale back on the time we spend on maths, so this has made me feel a lot more comfortable. Thanks,

Tricia.
