Praise be to God, the city of the Angels has received a truly humble and capable servant in our former Bishop of Northern Colorado: Archbishop Jose Gomez!!

Oh my - praise be to God, is right! This is wonderful news and as the blog post says, "historic." I was just talking with friends in California a few weeks ago, about what could happen when the current Archbishop/Cardinal reaches retirement. This is such a blessing for So. CA Catholics. We will be praying for all during this transition.

That is great news! We are waiting on news about a new archbishop for Seattle as well. Should be any day now...before Pentecost at least!

Even though I'm Australian, I'm aware what a blessing such a man would be to the LA diocese ~ I'm so very happy for you all!!!

Didn't realize you were waiting for an archbishop appointment, but now I do see current one is of retirement age. The same for Spokane. I'll keep Washington diocese in my prayers. The recent appointments in the US have been very good.

You're getting a Great Bishop!
We're all waiting here in San Antonio to see who is going to replace him - praying it is someone friendly to both home schooling and the traditional Latin Mass.

I am praying! Arizona feels the ripples from LA so am glad to hear your thoughts and look forward to getting to know him.

That is wonderful news for you, but of course we are a little sad here in San Antonio! You are indeed blessed to have such a priest leading your diocese.

Yes, we need a holy bishop here in So. California...and I think we got one! We are very encouraged by this news!
Our prayers are continuing for his strength, as things can get pretty crazy around here in this state!
