Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Moms~

This is an extension of the last post, I think...

But I am so confused by RS.

I took the "test" to determine placement for my almost 5yo, and it said to start her in Level B. I took the test a few times, adjusting questionable answers, and it still turned out as level B.

However, she has never done formal Math. Would we be skipping basics presented in Level A?

We have done counting with beans and grouping objects, but we have been very light on math...

I want to have a good amount of clarity on this, since the curriculum is pretty expensive...

Any thoughts from those who have used it?

All of Level A is included in Level B, but you go through it much faster.
So for my two, I just bought level B and am working through it more slowly when they are just starting it (splitting each lesson over 2-4 days).

That has worked well for us.

Yes I would just go with the level B. I have the level A, but that was to accommodate my then young (I think we even started at 3) 4 yrold who wanted school but I didn't want to throw workbooks at her. Level A is so gentle, it has been great as a preschool math. But if you are ready "to do Kindergarten", go with Level B...you won't be missing anything!

I have always done Level A because I was not comfortable in teaching math. You can start out with Level B most definitely but make sure to go through it slowly.   If your child is having problems with a concept, do not worry about parking at that lesson for awhile until things kick in.

Level A is repeated in Level B, but I don't skip Level A. Especially with my oldest, Level A was a fabulous training ground for both of us. I'm taking my Ker through Level A now, and I believe he is reaping the same benefits as my dd did.

I was also glad to have gone through Level A with dd and then started Level B about half way through 1st grade. Dd never ran into computation blocks like a lot of kids do, and I believe that was because she was older when she started Level B.
