Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So what's on your menu, since the fasting and abstaining obligations for today are lifted (it's a Solemnity)?

I can't decide...what's a traditional dish in your home?

Today is my oldest's feast day and he asked for breakfast at our local diner which we obliged. First we went to Mass where they handed out blessed St. Joseph bread to everyone. I'd never seen this before (it's a very Italian parish) but they were little rolls with crosses cut in the top.

We're just stopped at our 102 year old Italian bakery around the corner and picked up Zeppole for dessert this evening. That's our first time with those too!

We're headed to CT tonight and having dinner with my non-Catholic brother. I'm sure he won't serve anything special but at least I don't have to tell him to skip the meat.
