Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

a few months ago I had a plugged duct. It went away, but I still have a purplish mark where it was. 2 weeks ago I noticed that there was a lump there. Is this typical of a plugged duct? I am going to the dr on Tuesday, but I was hoping some mom could tell me that it is a normal aftermath of a plugged duct (and I can stop having breast cancer in my little worry box)

I suspect that the lump is residual from the plugged duct; I'm not sure about the purplish mark though. Typically, if it is mastitis, there will be a red mark and / or streak. But it doesn't sound as though your plugged duct progressed to mastitis.

My suggestion would be to take a warm bath and massage the lump, to encourage it to 'break-up' (for lack of a better term, if it is residual from the plug). Or even just standing in a warm shower, gently massage the lump, starting at the uppermost area and working your way down the duct (and area surrounding the lump). I've had mastitis a handful of times and each time there was a hard spot in the area of the red streak, or mark. The hard spot didn't necessarily disappear instantly, it did take a bit of time. But I would think that after a few months, it would be gone by now.

Is it uncomfortable? Or does it cause you pain?

I'm sure you've got nothing to worry over , and good that you're going to the doctor, just to be sure.

It does not hurt at all now, the only way I could find it was by doing my breast exam.

When I initally had the plugged duct, I did all of the massage, hot baths and hot compresses. I ended up on antibiotics to get rid of it after trying for a while to do it naturally. The dr said it was infected.

Weird thing was, I also got a purplish mark and a lump on my leg. My mom thought it was a bug bite, but im still not sure. It was on the same side of my body as the plugged duct.
