Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My eldest is turning 5 later this month and I would love to get him a digital camera for his birthday. He loves to take pictures and is very careful and gentle with my camera.

I am wondering if I should get one of the cameras that is marketed for kids or just an inexpensive "adult" camera. I know that some of the kids ones only hold 12-15 pictures which isn't ideal. Also, I would want it to have an SD card so he can download his pictures on my computer.

Any recommendations? Obviously, I don't want to spend tons of money on this but I want it to be nice.

Thanks,

Our older girls each have the Vtech camera for kids. It holds lots of pictures and I am pretty sure that you can get an SD card for it. You can also download the pictures onto the computer. The newer one definitely takes better pictures, but the older one had the audio/video feature that my oldest really loves. She thinks she is a cinematographer; it is pretty funny hearing her shoot something and narrate it. They don't run through batteries really quickly and they definitely withstand drops on the floor. I think I purchased the newest one for $50 at Target. I would definitely recommend it.

I'd go for an adult one... you get way more bang for your buck than with the kiddy ones.

How about used digital cameras? Maybe Craigslist?

Our son was bought a Vtech. It has barely been used because the quality of the shots was so poor our son lost interest and is moving onto a new home in our lent decluttering, much though it saddens me to give a gift from a dear aunt away like that. He uses my old point and shoot digital camera now and has a lot more fun, so I would second the used camera suggestion.
