Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here are just some of the many things we're going through this year.

My eldest, who asked to go to high school this coming year, is going to be 1/2 way through 10th grade. He wanted to go into 11th grade, but he just won't make it as he dawdles, gets distracted, and sometimes downright FIGHTS his assignments. Motivation is a word he just doesn't seem to understand.

My next one, who will also be entering 10th grade at the local high school, suffers from trichotillomania and is valiantly fighting that (so much so that she has a full set of eyebrows and lashes), but confessed having the "urge" last night. It's been a year-long battle already.

The third one has one pair of jeans and one pair of church pants. My husband goes to work in pants whose hems are shredded We are so in debt up to our eyeballs that it's a stretch for us to keep too many groceries in the house at a time. I know I should be grateful (and I am) that my husband has a job at all. I also know that some of this debt will be cleared within 18 months. But the interim seems so long. Especially when some of us (depending upon how often the clothes are used and how well we care for our clothes) look like a bunch of ragamuffin orphans (even my husband)!

And my littlest one is cutting her canines. She's got funky stools. She's crabby and wants me, only me ... ALL DAY LONG. My stress level skyrockets when she cries and I can't seem to appease her with ANYTHING.

Praying, Tina. There is so much going on at once, isn't there? One day, one hour, one minute at a time.

Peace,
Nancy

I'm trying. I'm so tired of fighting the 15 yo. We have to have "talks" with him every night about what he does wrong or what he doesn't do that he should.

We just found out yesterday that he stole some snacks from his brother. He shared the spoils with his friends and left his brother nothing.

It's so hard for me to just relax and rely on God. You know, I think I can manage my own life. That child is taking all my energy. I can't focus on anyone else and I've got eight others who need positive attention!

We're having a new baby in July, and I feel like our family life is so depressing. When will he "get it"?

I have a 9 year old I feel that way about sometimes. I know how exasperating and exhausting and discouraging it can be. You just have to keep on keepin' on...as exasperating and exhausting and discouraging as that can be. Hugs and prayers to you from another mom who totally understands!!

Ohh...and I even have a 2 year old that's STILL working on her 2 yr molars and a new arrival in 10/10! Sometimes it helps to know you're not alone. Well, I only have 2 other children besides the 9 year old so I can't share with that.
