Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How do you go about finding good sources of local honey. It's not yet farmer's market time and I'd like to find some good local (VA) honey to see if it will help with my dd's seasonal allergies.

Thanks!

where are you in Virginia?

you can search Local Harvest, i did a quick search for you, here

other Virginia ladies may have more ideas for you. i'd look for a locavore group and ask them -- our locavore list is full of farmers and consumers, so info is often readily available.

Thanks! I'm in NoVa. A woman here mentioned seeing local VA stuff at the PX, so I think I'll ask my dad to look next time he goes.

I'm not in VA, but I have always had good luck finding local honey in the smaller grocery stores (the ones that aren't on every corner) like Kroger, Tom Thumb or Brookshires.

Hi Melissa,

We went apple picking in Markham a few years ago and got honey there- they have their own bees and collect it. It was quite yummy! This link to their site also came from a pick your own site, which might help you find another place if you need it.
