Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So I was reading the thread about getting soap scum off bathroom surfaces and got to wondering, what do you all use to get rust stains from well water out of your toilet, shower, and sinks?

Thanks and God bless,
Christine

There's some products specifcally to fight rust.. I'm thinking CLR.. something, Lime and Rust.. it's been a while (more than a while) since I've dealt with it but I think it worked pretty good then.

Lime Away regular and Lime Away Toilet Bowl Cleaner. Nasty stuff but the only thing that works on the stains we get from the water here. I'll use CLR if I can't find Lime Away but Lime Away works best for me.

I used Iron Out when we had this problem. It worked easily, but it's horrible, caustic stuff.

I have also heard that straight Coke (soda) will work, but I don't think I ever tried it.

Yeah, I don't like to use that sort of thing, but I guess I might have to. Right now we just have orangeish/yellowish toilets, showers, and sinks

God bless,
Christine

We have that problem too Christine and I'm thinking about trying the Magic Eraser idea. I imagine it will take some scrubbing but I hate those harsh chemicals. I do use "The Works" for the toilet on occasion. It is very strong, vile stuff. I spilled a bit on our carpet and within seconds it turned the carpet into what looked like scum . It's awful. I never let the kids use it, and I only do on occasion, like when we're expecting company. I clean the toilets regularly with baking soda/vinegar so they are clean, they just get rust stains.

Do you have a cast iron tub? I accidently discovered peroxide peels rust from hard water right off. I was cleaning a child's cut over our tub (I had been cleaning with Lime A Way ) and a few drops of peroxide fell into the tub making it instantly white. Now, I just use peroxide and then wash it out quick and easy with my usual cleaner.

It doesn't work on my modern acrylic shower as well though.

This is what I do, too. Things are clean, they just LOOK nasty.

Sadly, we have an acrylic tub and shower. Bummer! That would have been a great find! I so dislike harsh chemicals

Have you tried Bar Keepers Friend? I use this to clean our kitchen sink. It is pretty abrasive, though,so you have to be careful, but it works very well.
