Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have celebrated Pi day when my oldest was still at home. We have not done so for about three years. The others were just to young. Well, now it is fast approaching and I wonder what others do?

We have cut Pi

We used paper strips of different colors to reperesent a particular number in Pi. This year we are going to make a Pi necklace.

The bottom of the above link has all kinds of ideas for Pi day.

Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi (A Math Adventure)
by: Cindy Neuschwander; Wayne Geehan

Also making a pie and eating it a dinner.

In the past we have tried to see how much we could memorize of Pi.

Also in the past I never connected it with Albert Einstien. Does anyone have Pi ideas to share or Albert resources to share.

Hoping others can help me in this quest for fun things on this fun day or math and science!

Yeah! Another PI Day fan    I bump this thread every year. There are some ideas and links there as well, though I think they may all be in the resources you have above. Good that you posted with plenty of advance notice for the March 14 day.

Our next Mathmania group meets on the 10th--this will be a great theme! Thanks.

I never connected this either - and in case anyone is wondering about the connection - it looks March 14 is also Einstein's birthday - so that is the connection.

We recently read this picture book biogrpahy - Odd Boy Out. I enjoy Don Brown's biographies.

Kris,

I would love to know more about your Mathmania group. We love math here at our home! I have thought about gathering like minded kids together to play and celebrate math together. Please share what you do and how it works for your group. If you don't mind me being so bold in asking.

I'm going to start a new thread for this question. It's a great one and deserves a space of it's own, so we can chat about great ideas for math clubs/groups.

Our Mathmania club is still pretty new--I'll post about it on the separate thread. I'd love to see what others are doing, too!
