Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have you checked the Artist of the Month studies from a few years ago? I haven't read through the old thread but picture books were often recommended in those threads.

Leonardo di Vinci - April 06

We recently found a newly published book - Neo Leo. It's about all his ideas for inventions that came way before someone else actually invented them later. Very cool.

I just posted this on the da Vinci thread, Joann:

Leonardo da Vinci by Diane Stanley

It's an absolutely beautifully illustrated picture book, though it is really geared more for older children than younger. It's probably not a one-sitting read, but it would make a FANTASTIC addition in studying and learning more about this artist/scientist/inventor. Ms. Stanley has illustrated this book painstakingly in an Old World style and they are absolutely amazing. Included on many of the pages are drawings from Leonardo's notebooks. The entire book is exquisite and filled with hidden treasures - like the knotted borders on the pages, and the backwards script on the dust jacket. I'm a huge fan of Diane Stanley's books and this one is no exception!

It's not really geared for a younger crowd though.

Here are some more ideas for you:

** Who Was Leonardo da Vinci?
** Leonardo, Beautiful Dreamer
** Leonardo and the Flying Boy
** Leonardo da Vinci (Famous Children Series)
** Fly, Kite, Fly!: A Story of Leonardo and a Bird Catcher
** Mona Lisa: The Secret Smile
** Katie and the Mona Lisa
** Leonardo da Vinci Stained Glass Coloring Book
