Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

About ten years ago, Flylady was very popular with homeschoolers.

I am just wondering if there is still any interest...or even knowledge, a decade later.

I found a long Flylady thread.

Is anyone still using Flylady regularly?

Are there specific things that you learned from Flylady that you keep on using?

I used Flylady, tweaked, of course (because I tweak everything, non-conformist that I am ), for about two years...and had the cleanest house *I* ever had. I have even maintained a few of my spots since then.

But, I am off-track now.

There are some things I gleaned, that I still use. I will add them later.

I am just wondering if she is still "hot"    and if you can list the most helpful things you learned from her.

Well I love her--again. I have gotten on and off the bandwagon many times. My house is still pretty awful, but it is so much better than it used to be.

The things I learned early on that "stuck" were:
empty the dishwasher every morning and fill throughout the day
run a load of laundry everyday
swish, swipe and swiffer
uh...that's it

This year I have been in such a fog, that basically all I did was read testimonials. But...I am feeling much better this week and I actually started decluttering my bedroom just 15 minutes at a time. This morning when I opened my eyes and saw my newly straightened bookshelves I was filled with such great satisfaction.

I think that I am understanding her messages differently this time around. I am finally seeing the decluttering for 15 minutes as something to do, and not a race to be won. I don't have enough energy to race, but I do have enough to just do something for 15 minutes.

That's funny that this came up as a topic.   Flylady has been on my mind lately.   A friend, who wasn't home schooling, followed her advice years ago, and her house was transformed!   I had begun to sign up with her, but was afraid of getting too many of her advertiser's e-mails.   Do you get a lot of extra e-mails, or is it not too bad?

I'm thinking this might be a good time to start - maybe I'll actually have spring cleaning done by Easter.

Edited to add that I read some of the long Flylady thread, and it was positively inspiring!!!   I'm going to give this a try on Monday.

As far as the zone cleaning goes, and some decluttering in each room, I've gotten back on the Flylady bandwagon again, and printed out my own heavily modified zones just in time for Lenten spring cleaning and nesting for our expected babe. I don't get her e-mails because I just don't have time to check them, and there are a few things I just can't do to follow her schedule. Dh's work schedule is unpredictable, so I can't have set days for things like she does, and it is utterly impossible to keep the kitchen sink clean at all times in a family of 10. The zone cleaning works very well, however, and I have my own control journals, which are different from hers.
