Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What is your favorite learn to draw book for someone who is about 11? He is interested in a lot of topics including nature drawing. He wants to get more realistic without being frustrated.

TIA!

FAVORITE-FAVORITE-FAVORITE is Drawing Textbook by Bruce McIntyre. Simple, inexpensive (at least it used to be, it may be OOP now...but a used copy would still be good and hopefully not too much) and sooooo good. Great for teaching about perspective!

Then, others we have which are very good:

** Best Book on Drawing People by Bruce McIntyre
** Drawing Trees by Victor Perard
** Drawing Faces and Expressions by Victor Perard

All the Victor Perard books are very good if you can find them. Most are out of print right now. For my money, for a child looking to develop skill in drawing, at age 11, I highly recommend the Bruce McIntyre books!

** Cute Animals
** Art Elements
** Flowers and Trees
** Drawing in Three Dimensions

What I like about the Bruce McIntyre books is that there is a simple little lesson, and the child can just work on one each day. It's not overwhelming, requires nothing extraordinary (pencil, paper), and the child can easily read the short little blurb, look at the example, and complete one sketch a day in a short time. No frustration, but slow, steady building of skills. Love these little gems!
