Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A nasty stomach flu is meandering through my house So far 3 of us have succumbed, exactly 48 hours apart I get the house clean and a make head way on the laundry mountain and then the next one starts.

How can I stop this? Isolate each person separately? At this rate we will be a sick ward for the next week and a half      Any ideas?

My friend Toni, who has 7 children, suggests disinfecting doorknobs, bathrooms and other common germ-passing spots every day. She keeps ill children in the living room with her and sends everyone else off to the schoolroom and bedrooms. Everyone washes hands often, including when they've been away from home, when they are getting ready to touch food or clean something and when they're picking up one of the younger children.

Fresh air helps, too - open your windows for an hour per day, minimum, even if it's only an inch. The goal is to get some of the stale air out and fresh, germ-free air in.

We wash hands like crazy and I carry the Lysol can around w/ me and spray every doorknob, entire toilet and faucet and counter and lightswitch and trash cans at least 2x a day when someone's sick. I also generously use the Clorox disinfectant wipes too. I normally don't use this kind of stuff but sometimes I bring out the big guns for times such as what you have!

Yes, I agree w/ fresh air too!

The problem with the fresh air is the 15 degree wind chill

I definitely need to get on people about hand washing more often and more thouroughly. Thanks for that reminder Our water starts out so cold from the faucet, we tend to rinse our hands more than wash our hands. I pulled out the hand sanitizer lotion that we bought last spring when my oldest son was one of the first confirmed H1N1 cases and the health dept was scaring us

After I had everyone in bed, I scrubbed all hard surfaces with an anti-microbial solution and bleached the bathrooms.

But the problem right now is that my dh is the one currently ill, and I just went up and found the 5 year old curled around him in our bed. Not the way to avoid germs! I put him back in his bed, but he will wander in again later I know. That is what he does and is not normally an issue.

Ah well, we have been very healthy for quite awhile. Maybe we were just due.
