I was going to pick Vincent Van Gogh for March but haven't had a chance to thoroughly look through his works. Do you need a list of the prints we'll do? I could maybe get to that within a few days if you'd like.
There are just so many interesting artists to choose from, I want to still be doing these artists studies years from now so we can get to them all!

Dear Amy,
I didn't mean to rush you. It is so good for you to do this. I really, really appreciate it. I just wanted to know the name so I can start gathering resources. If you can post the list that would be great. If you can at least I can start searching for Van Gogh in general. Again many thanks.

Natalia,
Where do you order your prints? I've been looking for a resource to find some prints, but haven't had much luck.

Actually I have never ordered prints before. I was thinking of ordering from Ambleside Online but they don't have Van Gogh listed. So the other place to try is Dover.
I liked the idea of the Ambleside ones because they are big. It seems that the ones at Dover are always small.
Anyone has a better source?

WAIT!! Is it too late to change my mind on the month's artist? I was reading the March composer study thread, and she mentioned a choice for Lent. LENT! I don't know where my mind is.
My other choice for artist was going to be Michelangelo, I think he would be a better choice because of Lent starting in March. Much more religious work to choose from.
So would anyone be disappointed if we went with Michelangelo instead? Should I stick to paintings/drawings or can we study sculpture too? (I just love the Pieta).

I think Michaelangelo is a great idea! And why not include sculpture too since they are art as much as the other stuff, but in my case mostly overlooked. If anyone has kids old enough to watch the Passion of the Christ you can point out the Pieta scene or see if they notice it.
In her book Elizabeth mentioned being able to get larger prints through the National Gallery, but for now they're not doing online ordering. The site mentiones that you can order things by phone or fax or mail. Here's a link if anyone wants to see what's there
NGA Gallery Shop

I had hoped you would pick Michaelangelo so would be for the change to him for the March study. It really would fit in well with Lent. And I say "yes" to including sculpture as well.

Amy, did you end up deciding to go with Michelangelo for sure as the March artist? Just curious as I'm hoping to collect some resources.

Yes - I'll definitely do Michelangelo but we have been away for a few days and I haven't decided which works of art yet. Well, I know I'll chose the Pieta sculpture, not sure which others. I think instead of doing only 4 I may do a few more to get the variety of his works represented. If any of you have favorites you want me to include let me know .

How about "David"? and also I was thinking of the Sistine Chapel frescoes as I found a really neat link for that. Thanks, Amy
