Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies I'd like to try making a sauve for putting onto minor cuts , scrapes etc. I know the herbal ingredients I want but I'd like to find a good recipe for a base cream / sauve . I do not want an olive oil beeswax mix . have any of you tried spruce gum mixed with other ingredients ? It is quite sticky so I'm thinking it could not be a base on its own . ideas ?
Thanks , Roxie

I buy a salve that has some beeswax but also almond oil and avacado oil and lanolin.. seems to me lanolin is a creamy type of base.. maybe that?

I haven't.. I would think it might be sticky

But I have also heard that it was used very successfully during WWI on wounds to prevent sepsis.

coconut oil is a nice oil too isn't it .I never thought of that oil in a salve .
there is a family story that when my grandfather was 12yo he came in very excited after hunting because he'd gotten a bird of some kind. He was standing leaning on the barrel of his gun telling his family the story . His 3yo brother wandered by him and stopped and pulled the trigger . This shot my grandfather right thru the arm . They appenetntly packed his arm with sugar is the story maybe salt too I'm not sure but sugar for sure . there was no doctor where they lived at that time . He also was always a healthy young man I'm sure that helped .I've always wondered though if sugar helps in infection or keeping a wound clean .
I'll have to try a few recipes I think . I'm very interested in using the daisy in a salve I've just been reading about the healing properties of daisies .
