Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi All ~
I have a question for those of you with middlers. At what grade level did you concentrate on "formal" writing such as research papers, book report, etc..? My 10 yo DD this year is using CHC's LOG along with Language Lessons for the Elementary Child (Queen) and we just started Learning Language Arts through Literature (Orange). My DD loves CHC's LOG and won't give it up. I also felt like she needed more, hence, we began with Queen's LLEC. Then I starting feeling like she should be writing more. So, we start the LLATL. Now she is doing all three. I love the CM way of learning, but just don't know when and if I should push these formal reports.

And for a bit of family history, both girls have always homeschooled with this crazy Mommy.

Hope this makes sense to someone.

We are just starting now in the 2nd half of 4th grade. My DD finally has the will and capacity to write to more structured stuff. We use Total Language plus with whatever book we are reading at the time.

FWIW: We tried LOG and DD hated it but now my next DD loves it! We tried LLATL too and it just wasn't her cup of tea so we settled on TLP

CHC starts formal writing instruction in LOG level E.

It contains a through grammar overview before going into the basic five paragraph essay (from pre-writing to proofreading and editing).

I've been told that it should be good preparation for Hillside's Lingua Mater.Lingua Mater:Language arts through Literature
