I love some of his books....
Each Peach, Pear, Plum
is one of our favorites. It is so clever- the rhyming verse coupled with trying to find the hidden fairy tale reference in each scene.  at our house.
Mockingbird
is another favorite.... I love the turn-of-the century illustrations.
My library does not have a lot of his books, though.
Any other fans out there?

I do like Allen Ahlberg, though I do have to admit to not knowing much of his more recent books. I like the ones his wife, Janet, illustrated with him (she died in 1994). Our favorites are the ones from the 1980s and early 90s, like Jolly Postman, Each Peach, Pear, Plum and The Baby Catalogue - which is my favorite of theirs. I don't care for the illustrator of the most recent books - and for me it's all about the look in pictures books...  - not really but it does influence my perception.

Peepo and Each Peach. I can't decide which is my favourite. I loved Baby's Catalogue when they were little but I don't like reading it anymore.
I bought Each Peach when I found out I was pregnant. Before clothes, toys, nappies anything!
I have heard Peepo called something else in the States. Peekaboo maybe?

I have enjoyed reading "Funnybones" in the fall -- it has always struck me as very creative and benignly humorous in an offbeat kind of way. It's really fun to read aloud. My favorite part is when the dog skeleton falls apart and the other skeletons try to put him back together but get it wrong and he says things like "OWOF" and "FOOW" and "WOFO" until they get it right. Sure, that part goes over the head of my 5yo but it amuses ME.
I'll have to check if my library has some of the other titles you all have mentioned!

Yeah - don't read it anymore but still love it for the sweet memories. And I LOVE the depictions of breastfeeding babies (that's why it's an overall favorite  )

We have Peekaboo in board book format, which I think is the American version of Peepo. One of my favorites for the younger set.
As to his recents, we enjoyed The Runaway Dinner.
