Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been struggling with grammar this year. Well, me AND the kids. We are enrolled with Seton for 9th and 7th grade. I have trouble explaining things to the kids and getting them to comprehend the concepts since grammar concepts require a different style of thinking in my opinion.

Anyway, I was thinking about a t.v. series that used to come on with teen-age kids or college aged kids and they would discuss school topics in a catchy style. I remember thinking they would be cool for the kids, but they were much too young to benefit from it back then. I can't remember the name of the series, but they covered math, grammar and science etc. Does anyone remember this series and if it is worthwhile or not? I cannot remember the name of it. I am just trying to figure out something that might explain things to them in a manner in which they will remember it. Are there any other thoughts as to videos etc.? I know, videos seem sad, but I am a bit desparate!!!

Well, there's always School House Rock

And I would do a search online for grammar explainations and see if there wasn't something there that would be helpful for free.

This sounds a lot like the Standard Deviants.

Edited to add link to Standard Deviants.

Kim

Not sure if you have caught our discussion on grammar etc but a link was given to a Victor Borge youtube, which has me thinking perhaps you could find something on youtube specifically for grammar.

Yep, I think it is Standard Deviants as I remember it being a really weird name like that! Thanks for the link. The Youtube suggestion sounds like fun, but we have "dial-up". SO, that nixes that idea.

I can't remember the age level, but you might try finding videos of the PBS series Ghostwriter.
God bless,
