After running through 5 million nightlights in the past four years, I am desperate for a GOOD night light for the kids' room.
My favorite so far was a plug in that had an easy, manual on-off switch. Unfortunately, the light bulb could not be replaced and don't remember where I found it originally.
I want something that is not crazy bright, like the baby lamp I tried using for awhile.
I don't want anything that will eat up batteries or that will be hard to replace the batteries in or difficult to recharge.
I prefer one that either has a manual shut-off or will not eat up electricity (like possibly a rechargeable).
I would like something that I will not have to replace in two months because the light-bulb has burned out.
Does such a night light exist???
ETA: I also don't want to have to pull it out every morning and re-plug it every night...
I'm not too picky, am I?

the little cheapie ones where the lightbulbs are sold.. that you just plug into the wall and go on and off with light by themselves.. work pretty good. And they seem to last forever. I use one in my bathroom.

The problem is that the room never gets enough light to shut off by itself so it burns out faster. I keep dark curtains over the window otherwise they wake up with the sun. Plus the plug is so low on the wall that sometimes shadows keep it from turning off even when the lights in the room are on.

we have been using one of those dollar store Blessed Mother night lights for over a decade in the bathroom  .........I change the light bulb about every 18 months

Oh, and all my plugs are horizontal, so that anything that involves a picture would be sideways. Agghhhhh!!!

We have these little square night lights that we've been using for about 10 years now. No battery, no bulb. Just plug them in and they use an insanely small amount of power - I think dh said it costs pennies a year to operate. We keep them always plugged in and use them mostly in our bathrooms, though occasionally a kiddo gets scared of the dark and then we use them in bedrooms. It's no reading light, but it gives off enough light to see well. I just searched Lowes' page and found it:

I agree that those are great night lights. Another benefit is that they are very flat to the wall, so you don't break them by bumping them.
