...and why?
Mine isn't a country, it is a Canadian province - Newfoundland!
I've always wanted to see the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows.
But...not in winter.
I've loved every part of Canada I've visited, and Canada+history is bound to be great, right?
Your turn!

I find this a horribly difficult question because I don't handle flying well at all.. it messes something up in my head.. I feel dizzy and "off" and it can last for several hours after being back on the ground.. the longer in the air the longer it lasts once we're down.
So.. hey I could visit Canada without going on a plane And Newfoundland and Nova Scotia sound interesting. Or maybe going up to Alaska, while it's not another country it would be quite different than here.
But if I could somehow magically appear there.. I think I'd like to see the British Isles and I guess it's northern Europe.. Germany and Poland and Lichtenstein and such. But since I always get hung up on the whole plane thing I have a hard time having any strong desire to see anything there.
Maybe I should just tour the USA first I think I'd be more excited about that than anything.

My husband and I have discussed that there are so many places to visit quite close to home that we've never seen.
We've also discussed getting to Rome at least once!
I think I'd like to see Prince Edward Island. I've always wanted to go, but I'm not sure I'd have thought of it had Nancy not made Canada sound so exciting!

Israel, but only when my children are grown and don't need me, scary place to visit, I think.
Rome, for sure, I'd love to see the Vatican, and then I'd love to tour all the art museums.
Prince Edward Island sounds nice, but not in winter!
Maybe a tour of England and see where Jane Austen lived, James Herriot, the art museums, and so on. I guess I would choose England if I had to choose. So many of the stories I love are set there.

Dh and I came very close to taking advantage of super-cheap airline tickets to England four years ago. Our only child at the time was young enough to ride on our laps (all the way to England--what were we thinking?). We planned to rent a car and drive all over the country spending quality time in London and Oxford. Maybe someday.

Mostly I dream of visiting France and the British Isles, maybe because I speak both French (sort of) and English (I like to believe) Actually, in high school I fell in love with the idea of the Loire Valley; dh has been to France 2 or 3 times on business and says it's just so beautiful. Britain attracts me because of so much shared history with the US, origins of American ideas and such - again, too much study of English history and US law make me want to see where it really happened.
Someday, maybe.
Peace,
Nancy

Hey, silly me, I just realized that the question doesn't say it has to be some different country.
In that case, I think I'd LOVE to take the trip dh and I have talked about.. going down the coast of California and seeing the missions.

Staying in the US I would most like to tour the Pacific Northwest. I want to see Seattle and Portland, the wine regions, and the coast. It all sounds lovely.

After reading the Meet the Austin (by Madeline L'Engle) series when I was in college, my life long dream is to go to Patagonia.
I long to spend time watching the wonder of Nature in the cold. I think its because I grew up in a tropical environment and would love to see the beauty of a tundra environment:)
I can hear some of you laughing right now and inviting me right over to see "the wonder of Nature in the cold"

I've wanted to go to Australia since I was 13 years old and hooked on Harlequin romance novels that were set in the Outback.
I also want to go to Italy, Switzerland, Poland and France.
Tahiti would be nice, too. Especially today, as it is 10 degrees outside with a foot of snow...

Since I was in jr. high, I've wanted to tour Russia.
More recently, I've been pondering visiting the Vatican and also touring early Catholic churches and sites around the Mediterranean.
Also, we've been kicking around the idea of a summer visit to Prince Edward Island for several years now. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I want to go to Italy--Rome to be exact, though a tour of the whole country would be awesome!

I would love to go to PEI, too, but no one else in my family has read the Anne books!
But...it's kinda sorta on the way to Newfoundland, he he he...

Hard to say. Probably the Holy Land for obvious reasons, except that it sounds so dangerous.
Other than that, someplace really, really different, even more different than the Holy Land sounds from the United States. I was on a Web-tangent reading about Asia the other night, thinking about how interesting it would be to visit lesser-discussed places like Mongolia and Nepal. Sometimes I also find myself for some reason spending time reading about life on lesser-known Pacific Islands. I'm sure China is really interesting, but under current circumstances I wouldn't want to travel there just for leisure. (Are Americans even able to do that? I have no idea.) Oh, and much of Africa...
Oh, and England sounds interesting too, mostly because of the historic places. My husband has been to England (who is partly of English descent, as obviously are my children, while I am not at all) and visited the Tower of London -- so amazing he's been in the same place where St. Thomas More was imprisoned!

I'd love to go to Germany. My grandmother was from Heidelberg, immigrated when she was 14 to the US, and she always dreamed of going back, as she said it was just so beautiful.
Second on the list would be England. My grandfather immigrated from there, so that is partly the reason. The other is I am just fascinated with *almost* all things British. I love reading "Auntie Joanna's" Blog, because when she writes, I feel like I can hear my grandfather speaking. And it all just speaks to the romantic in my Jane Austen-loving-heart.
God Bless,
Stacy in MI
