We bought Scrabble Slam for a Christmas stocking stuffing, and it's been a hit. The age range starts at 8 but our eight year old would find playing with her brother and parents frustrating, I think.

We now have Quirkle, Settlers of Catan, and Great States, Life-Twists and Turns. But, alas, the kids are either playing the Playstation 2 they got or the Leapster 2. Sigh.
Though, ds and I did play one game of Scrabble Slam--while Dad played Playstation and dd was leapin'
It was fun.
Oh, and dd has loved Castle Logic for about 2 years now!

We got carasonne (sp!) including all 5 expansion packs and packages of all kinds of funky dice, such as those in dungeons and dragons.
Great fun use of both until 1am with the older boys Thursday nite.
And old fashioned Risk. They are loving that.

We got Linkity - played with in-laws and it was fun
Square Up
Double Shutter which my dd 8 has been playing incessantly.
Cir-kis
Wooden 3-D memory game and Goodnight Moon game, Girafalaff Limbo and Hungry, Hungry Hippos. (my sil is apparently a very experienced and competitive Hungry, Hungry Hippos player. She insisted that my ds 5 play her right away, and that she would beat him. He beat her, and she was not happy. (She's 41!) You learn somethin' new about people all the time.

Told ya!
We got Apples to Apples. It's fun, but believe the packaging that states for players 12 and up. My ds7 is a smart guy, but some of the word pairings are way over his head.

Our children were given "The Little Orchard" game, where you try to harvest cherries before the raven gets them - it's simple, quick to play and fun. They also got "Shadows in the Wood", where the gnomes hide from the light of a candle among the trees - another beautiful game, very engaging but simple, with variations, and also one which had us all sitting in darkness and whispering together as we played. Both are co-operative games which we prefer, as our DS can make anything into a competition but lacks the maturity to cope with it!

Wanted "Masterpiece"...Santa didn't bring it . Other than that, no games! We play Uno, and that's it. But, I swear, if I had Masterpiece ("the art auction game") I would play it every day!!
We used to have Which Witch? growing up...LOVED that game...well, loved just putting the whammy ball down the chimney and watched where it went, and who got knocked over! There was 7 of us, so after awhile, the cardboard walls got worn out, pieces lost, and whammy ball got lost...never the same after that.
I got my art education from Masterpiece...LOVED that game, and we used to go over to the little girl across the street (she was an only child), and bombard her poor mom with our presence playing that game. We were not allowed to stay too long...the noise level got to the mom.

My ds5 received this and it's great! We call it the "dude version" of the Fairy Finds game, which we also love. They are very similar, but I find Orchard to be a little easier----my 5 and 3 year olds were even able to play it together without any help.

We received catan too and so far are loving it , Thanks to all the gals who suggested it for ds14 .
I purchased a good old game of tiddely winks for ds8 he played it out at Gramma's place and had a blast . he also got mouse trap from his big sis but I have to say we do not like plastic games like this . We found an old copy of masterpiece at the second hand as well and going to play that . ds14 got a texas holdem set and the boys are playing poker right now I love gin rummy and card games myself going to re-learn cribbage with ds8 this week .
