Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I got an Ipod Touch for Christmas from my dear husband! I am very clueless about it.

What are you favorite apps for the Touch? Also, how do you all use your Iphone or Itouch to bless your homeschooling?

Many Thanks

The best app I have is iBreviary, it completely lays out the Liturgy of the Hours for you. It only costs .99 and there is no subscription cost. It updates for you each day. This is great even if you just want the daily Mass readings.

Any to do list program or website you might be using will have an app so you could use it for HSing on your iphone/ipod. Helpful if you need to check something and someone else is using your computer.

There are also free dictation programs you can use for narration or other notes on the go. You can just hand it to a child in the car and let them narrate, then type it up at home.

I hope this helps you get started. There are thousands and thousands of apps out there. Browse the free apps first!

God Bless,
Barb

I have iBreviary and can't work it at all!! I noticed too late that the feedback of disgrunted people was the same exerience as mine..I'd love to know how you got yours going Barb!

So my recommendations:

If you love Gregorian Chant there is the WHOLE Liber Usualis ( all 2300+ pages!) it has a table of contents and then when you find a chant you can BOOKMARK..a very handy feature. With your fingers you can make the page enlarge or smaller, with the flick of your finger, you can flip to the next page. What WOULD be good is a search engine on the book, I'd like to find some of the chants with greater ease. But this is fantastic for those who chant! Ooops, nearly forgot, the App is called, Liber Pro

I thoroughly enjoy the i pieta ~ it has many, many well known Catholic prayers, I was particularly excited to discover they had some of the deliverance prayers that are at the back of Fr Gabriel Armoth's book, An Exorcist Tells His Story. The True Devotion consecration is there as well as the 33 day preparation..just so, so much. Also you have many classic Catholic books, True Devotion, Summa Theologica, the Baltimore Catechisms, Papal Encyclicals from Pope Benedict back to Gregory XVI, Introduction to the Devote Life, Imitation of Christ, the writings of St Therese of Avila, her life, Treatise of Purgatory, writings of the Cure of Ars, St John of the Cross, The Dialogue, The Lives of the Saints...it's bibliograpy includes Butler's Lives of the Saints and other good sources. It also has the Novus Ordo Calendar and also the Bible (not sure which one)...anyway I recommend this app!!!

There is the iMissal, I also recommend that (unfortunately for Australians they don't have the Bible we use, but there is three versions to choose from and those in the States are covered (lucky ducks!) it has the readings for Mass, the Mass itself and prayers.

THEN there is Universalis it is the most expensive (most are a couple of dollars, Liber Pro is about $14 and this one was $20something) But it has the whole Divine Office and also the readings for the day..for those who read the daily office this is the best I've seen.

There is iConfess, good to take to confessions, a really good examination of conscience but it could have had more prayers IMO.

The Oxford Dictionary of Saints is there also for a price about $16 or so, but I'm happy enough with the one on iPieta and it was only a couple of dollars...

Probably the main ones worth mentioning..

Lissa had a great post a few days ago about how she uses her iPod touch on a daily basis.
A day in the life of my iPod touch
She's got some neat apps listed as well as how she incorporates them into her day. I found myself wanting an iPod Touch after reading her post!

Have you checked your settings? On the iphone, we went into settings and iBreviary came up, we changed the language from Italian to English. I read somewhere that you have to change it everyday, I have not had to do that. I do have to hit the reset button everyday.

Are you having other issues?

These are great suggestions! How do you use it to help with organization in homeschooling? Do you all sync your calendars with it? I don't even know how to do that.

I also downloaded Kindle for iPhone the other day. I like that I can preview the first chapter or so of a book before I request it from the library or buy it.
