Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We recently signed up so I could order some nice Catholic movies for the kids to watch... and now I am stumped.
My dc are 5 and 7, and they are pretty sensitive. Movies can scare them easily.
What should I put in my line-up?
My tired brain can't think.
We have the CCC dvds...and several Veggie Tales...

What else? Dh keeps asking me (always at 10:30 at night when all my brain cells have shut down.... )

My kids get really overwhelmed by movies, too. But the older ones seem okay for them--I think the slower pace of the frames has a lot to do with it. Would they like Song of Bernadette? Or the old Bing Crosby movies--Going My Way and Bells of St. Mary's (maybe those are terrible--I haven't seen them since I was a Catholic).

We have enjoyed "Come to the Stable" here at Christmas time.
Also, musicals like "The Sound of Music" or "The King and I" and old Fred Astaire movies are fun. Of course, we just watched "White Christmas", an annual tradition (that's with a small "t" ) here. I find older movies are a lot less intense, both in story line and in their visual pace. The children really enjoy the singing and dancing as well.
There are also fun older Disney movies, such as the original "Parent Trap" or "Pollyanna" or "Mary Poppins".

Thanks for your suggestions. They are getting the ball rolling for me. I pan to check out the various movie threads here, also.
I just run out of time, then energy, then my brain completely goes by ten pm...

I was in a hurry posting last night but just to elaborate: the issue for my kids is, as Caroline said, the fast visual pace. The content isn't as big a deal--though we don't allow scary movies anyway. I was sick once a couple years ago and pulled up a full-length Veggie Tales movie thinking it might be good for the kids while I lay on the couch and it was just way too much. They got very overwhelmed. When we do pull up a movie it is usually an old musical and we do not seek variety. Our two go-to favorite are Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music.

Netflix is pretty decent at getting a sense for what you like and making recommendations. If you take a few minutes to rate things you've seen you might get some suggestions on the website.

Adventures in Odyssey have several good videos (they're not Catholic, but have good Christian moral ideals)

Hermie the Caterpillar (These are also shown on EWTN)

Thomas the Tank Engine (These are not Catholic, but have good character trait lessons. This is among the first videos my son watched when he was little).
