A 7 year old autistic boy had gone missing Saturday afternoon in Cape Breton (Nova Scotia). He'd followed the family dog into the woods and wasn't wearing a winter coat, hat or mittens. It was snowing and continued to snow throughout the weekend.
He's been found this afternoon (Monday) and he's alive! I was so sure that the outcome to this story would be sad by now and am absolutely elated to hear this wonderful news! There isn't much news on his condition yet, just that he's alive with a weak pulse. Please pray that he continues to recover and that he survives this ordeal with his fingers and toes intact.

I have no personal connection to this story at all but, as a parent to an autistic child who liked to disappear at that age, and an aunt to two others who were "runners", I just feel so much empathy for this family and the story touched me deeply. I'm just so happy that this little boy is alive!
Editing note: apparently, authorities are being tight-lipped about the boy's condition right now. I hope that he's still alive and am praying...
update:
Tonight's (Monday) news is reporting that James is suffering from severe hypothermia and is in critical condition in hospital. Hopefully, he'll pull through.
Final Update:
Sadly, Jeremy succumbed to hypothermia while in hospital.

As the mother of a boy (not autistic) who, years ago, followed a dog into the woods when he was seven on a very cold day and was missing for hours, I know that terror. I will pray for his full recovery!

Prayer here too...being the mother of an autistic daughter, I know how quirky they can be when they set their mind to it. And my daughter loves snow and cold...we've found her more than once outside barefoot in the winter.
Canadian winter too...so y'all can imagine.

I'm very saddened by this news today. How devastating to have this happen in the first place, let alone this time of year.
Our family will hold this family close to our hearts and covered in prayer as they mourn this huge loss, as well as the repose of the soul of this blessed little one.
