Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Wondering what the opinions are out there about a Kindergartener who is careless about her handwriting. She is my most eager and cooperative learner - so I really hate to dampen her enthusiasm by making her handwriting lesson unfun. Would you all worry about this at this point? Should I be making her do more, correct her more? I think she'll just improve as time goes on - but I hate to think of her establishing bad habits in her carelessness. Thoughts?

No! I wouldn't worry about it for a few years (but that is just me)...

I have a 8yo who is still occasionally lazy with handwriting. Currently, he does a SMALL amount of copywork every day and I require that to be neat but I don't stress over it if his other writing isn't quite as neat. I think that a lot of it is developmental. My oldest didn't "click" with handwriting until he was around 11- he's mostly neat now, except when he's having a "teen attitude" day.
For kindergarten, I wouldn't worry too much.

The most I tend to do is make a point of noticing when my child's printing is well done or when I can't actually read it.

I don't make a big deal of it either way (unless it's exceptionally well done).

My sister who has a K student circles the very best letter after letter practice.
