Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am disappointed every year when I look through our collection of christmas dvd's - there are so many secular ones. Any have any favoite christmas movies that are more Christian and on the spiritual side?

Hmmm...
Well, these aren't very spiritual I guess either...we have some standards,..Miracle on 34th St (the old one), It's a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Charlie Brown (probably the most spiritual one out of the bunch!)...My all time favorite is A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott. Today I bought a Veggie Tales Christmas movie, lol...an impulse buy, it was only $5. Anyway, I'm not much help, just trying to keep this thread active so maybe someone will reply with some good ideas!

The Little Drummer Boy

Product Description at Amazon: This story has touched the hearts of families everywhere. In this holiday classic, the true spirit of Christmas is revealed when a lonely orphan stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus and affirms what the holidays are really about – giving and love. Featuring a beautiful soundtrack by the Vienna Boys’ Choir, this timeless tale of generosity makes the perfect addition to your holiday collection.

It's quite short at under 30 mins, Barb, but there is a message in it. It's certainly about Jesus.

Muppet Cristmas Carol is great! Oops, you were looking for something spiritual .
How about The Fourth Wise Man for Epiphany? We have a movie called Small One that is nice for kids. Oh, and we just found a really cool Christmas Twilight Zone called The Night Of The Meek. I'll have to link to it when I get on the other computer. You tube only has a teaser of the newer version ,but I can link to the older version.

Here are our religious ones. When I was growing up in the 70's and 80's before VCRs, these movies would be shown on TV at Christmas time so I have always considered them as part of our Christmas movies.

Going My Way
Bells of St Mary's
Come to the Stable
Lilies of the Field

We like Juan Diego & St. Nicholas from CCC, also.

Last year I purchased Advent Calendar on DVD and we love it! I saw it orginally in the Catholic Child catalogue.
There is one for Lent we own, too.
I see now there is a Christmas Carols edition DVD also.

It will have to wait until next year, I loaned out my DVD and have never gotten it back so, I had to purchase another.

We always watch "The Sound of Music" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" during this time of year in our family. Noone knows why.............

But, we do!

Though we traditionally love older movies, ie: Bells of St. Mary's, White Christmas, Going My Way...etc..

I have to say, we love watching Elf.

Uh, let me clarify. Only mommy and daddy get to watch this, as it is not child appropriate. For whatever reason, we think Will Ferrell is hysterical in this--and I am not a Will Ferrell fan.

It's a good, light laugh for us...who tend to be too serious.

Night of the Meek
Here's the link to the Twilight Zone that I talked about. We also like to watch the Nutcracker, although not spiritual, at least it's good classical culture .

I have "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey" coming from Netflix tomorrow...

The trailer looks pretty good...

There are those claymation 1/2 hour movies that EWTN usually has on: "The First Christmas", "Michael the Visitor" and "Martin the Cobbler".

Seconding "It's a Wonderful Life", "The Bells of St. Mary's", "Going My Way", and adding "The Bishop's Wife" for old b&w movies that are secular, but with good Christian/spiritual Christmas themes.
