Can you please tell me your favorite CD for the season. I have some itunes cards I want to use on new music. We love Clancy Bros Christmas, country style, Irish folk music etc. It need not neccessarily be religious.

I love Josh Groban's Christmas Cd! I'm typically not a Josh Groban fan, but this is wonderful!

Your favorite Christmas & Advent Music
Favorite Christmas CD you sing to
suggestions for advent/xmas music
The "Straight No Chaser" Christmas album that was recommended in the thread from last year ended up being a real popular one here last year.

Molly, I don't know if you'll include soft rock/country in your choices, but I love this Neil Diamond Christmas Album. It's available on iTunes.
I'd also recommend Manheim Steamroller and John Denver's Christmas Like a Lullaby. OH, and there's always Amy Grant!

We love this Baroque Christmas album.
And even though my husband hates it, I have a real soft spot for the Muppets/John Denver album. I grew up with it I was the dorky kid whose parents only let her listen to John Denver.

John Tesh, A Romantic Christmas.
Brings me back to nursing my babies in front of the lit Christmas tree in a darkened room. But even before babies it has always been my absolute favorite.
Anne
PS-I too LOVE the Muppets Christmas album with John Denver.

The John Denver and the Muppets Christmas album is one of my favorites, too! The first year I was in college (in Virginia, and my parents were in Hawaii, so I couldn't afford to go home) my dad taped it and sent it to me. Now it's one of my dc's favorites.
We also like Amy Grant, Harry Connick Jr., Bing, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Martina McBride, The Carpenters, a Charlie Brown Christmas, and a Very Veggie Christmas. Kenny G is good background for a party, or if you happen to have time in the evening after the kids have gone to bed to sit by the tree with a glass of wine... Mariah Carey's Christmas CD is a fun high-energy, Top 40-type of collection.
Andrea Bocelli's Sacred Arias is beautiful! And he has a new Christmas CD this year that's on my wish list...
Also, we just received Christmas at Ephesus from the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles. Absolutely beautiful! Highly recommended.
Oh! And James Taylor's Christmas CD.
ETA: A Scottish Christmas!!! Bonnie Rideout playing fiddle, with dulcimer, acoustic guitar, and bagpipes. Also, Christmas Morn' by Dan Duggan is a good Celtic/Gaelic-flavored acoustic CD.

Some of our favorites are: Chicago's Christmas album, Manheim Steamroller, Transiberian Orchestra, and George Winston's "December."

My husband and I just came across the Indiana University group "Straight no Chaser". We love love love their "12 Days of Christmas". The other songs they sing are really good too.

I *love* getting Christmas CD's! Growing up, we had two records - Perry Como and Andy Williams, and that was all we ever heard. Of course, I'm quite nostalgic about them but once I left home, it dawned on me that I could buy as many Christmas albums (yes, they were still mostly vinyl when I was in college ) Anyway, over the years I've gotten quite a collection and keep adding to it. In addition to Perry and Andy some of my favorites are
the Bonnie Rideout Scottish Christmas
Carpenters,
Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker,
Handel's Messiah, Amy Grant (older one - I see she has a new one out now)
Il Divo (one of my new faves as of last year)
and ....Elvis! This was given to me as a gift, along with a pop-up cardboard Graceland, years ago by a boss shared a lot of music tastes with - I didn't care that much for Elvis at the time, but I've grown to love that CD!
And one which is not really a Christmas CD but I include it with my Christmas music each year b/c it sort of goes with it, is the soundtrack from The Preacher's Wife movie.
After seeing the recommendation for Straight No Chaser here (I'd never heard of them) I picked it up at Target the other day but then later saw there are 2 different Christmas CD's. The one I got (still in shrink-wrap) is called Holiday Spirits and does have the 12 Days of Christmas. Is that one everyone likes?

When I first read this question I thought, "I can't tell them my favorite cd is John Denver and the Muppets"
But I guess I am among friends here.

This has been our favorite for years. It's absolutely beautiful colonial style music. You can hear samples on Amazon.
A Colonial Christmas
My other favorite is from Stillwaters. They are the family that sings the Divine Mercy Chaplet on EWTN every day at 12:00pm.

Me too .
My long time faves are:
White Christmas - Bing Crosby
Christmas Eve with Johnny Mathis
I think A Very Veggie Christmas will be to my children what JD and the Muppets are for me .
Noel by Josh Groban is a hit here, too.
Love,

We like the Reliant K Christmas Albums. They are a Christian rock band that makes funny versions of some songs, beautiful versions of others, and has new Christmas songs that are amazing. My favorite is called "I Celebrate the Day." The kids love it too.

No one has mentioned it yet. We also enjoy Go Fish "Snow". They're the ones that did "Christmas with a Capital C"
