It looks like one of the family Christmas presents this year is going to be a new dishwasher. We have been very unhappy with our current one so it is really a blessing to send it to the dishwasher graveyard. Do you all have a brand/model that you really like? We are a family of 6 and usually run the dishwasher once/day.
Thanks in advance!

NOT LG!!!!!!
We got one. For my birthday. It clogs easily, the installation instructions are AWFUL!!!! and it has gotten progressively noisier--it started out so quiet we could barely hear it, now it is louder than our previous one, and cleans about as well.
I am MOST dissatisfied with the LG products I bought (also bought an LG French door refrigerator, and the seals are already tearing).
Both of these problems started at aboout 6mos of ownership. I've heard good things about Bosch, however. Wish I'd just spent the money and gotten that one instead.

I could have written every word that Rachel did. In fact, I clicked on this thread with the sole purpose of warning you to NOT buy an LG dishwasher. Mine has basically become the storage place for dirty dishes since they're dirty when they go in AND WHEN THEY COME OUT! I truly cannot stand my dishwasher.

We need to purchase a new washer, too . I have disliked every-single-dishwasher I've ever been in contact with! Is it just me or........is there really a dishwasher that is a blessing instead of a curse?
Thanks for letting me get THAT off my chest .
Love,

We bought a Miele Inspira last month. A friend who has owned hers for a few years, recommended this German dishwasher to me and even did an informational video on Facebook for me. That pretty much sold dh and me (and dh is very, very frugal!). Oh, and we kill dishwashers and decided it was worth it to buy the Mercedes of dishwashers. Miele makes theirs to last (20 years)....and I LOVE, LOVE, it! It cleans like a dream, is soooo quiet, and the separate cutlery rack is awesome!
I almost got a Bosch (it was Consumer Reports Best Buy) but I did tons of research and there was a lot of talk online about odors associated with them...I know some who have had no problem but I figured if some had odor problems, then I would be one of the unlucky ones.
Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the recommendation, but hopefully we won't still be in this same house for more than another 5 years. I'm not sure we can afford the "mercedes".

Sharon,
I hope I didn't come across as pompous about our machine. We have suffered through some awful dishwashers and we do plan on being in our home for a very, very long time. And we did have time to save as I handwashed for quite some time so we could buy this machine.
Stef linked to a Bosch line at Sears that I would look at if I were you...they are very good machines according to the man who installed our Miele. Best of luck!

Ladies, you have given me hope! Thank you, thank you. I'm going to check out the Sears scratch and dent warehouse for a Bosch.
Dear St. Anthony we do pray, help us to find fabulous dishwashers that we can afford right away!
Love,

Jennifer-
Oh no, not in the slightest! I would love to make that kind of investment in a dishwasher IF we were planning on staying in this house for 10 more years. (Of course we weren't planning on still be here now after 17 years ) I appreciate all the recommendations, especially after I realized this was just discussed a few months ago.
I think we will look into a Bosch. It seems to be the one getting the best reviews.

Ladies, bumping this to say "Thank you, thank you!" My dh shopped the Sear's outlet for months waiting for "a white Bosch" and we finally got one a few weeks ago. We love it! I'm not sure of the make and model but if anyone is interested, I'll find out.
It is sooooooooooooooooooo quiet! And it acutally - get this - cleans the dishes .
Love,
