Don't forget to gather your CD's for February. . .
Peter Tchaikovsy (1840-1893)
The four pieces:
Swan Lake (excerpts)
Sleeping Beauty (excerpts)
1812 Overture (kids love those cannons @ the end )
Piano Concerto No. 1
Of course, if you cannot easily come by these, choose other works of his. (There were some CD suggestions on another thread- "Feb. Composer")
On this thread people can post ideas and links througout February. . .
Enjoy!

I just bought my CD's today. I thought we used to have them but who knows where they are now!
Anyway, there was a lot to choose from and many under $10. So, get listening!
Also, Disney's Sleeping Beauty uses Tchaikovsky's theme throughout, so many some rainy Feb. day you can pull that out (some parts might be scary, though)and see if they notice the music.

Hey here's a great CD 25 Favorites from Tchiakovsky and it's got selections from all those Sarah mentioned (and it's $4.98!)

Sarah, just wanted to say thanks for organizing this!
We loved studying Mozart last month. I LOVE how this and the art study are overlapping with other things in our lives....the girls' piano song this week is March Slav by Tchaikovsky (not a very uplifting song!), we attended a Young Person's symphony production last Saturday and the first song was by Tchaikovsky (I don't know which song because I am classical-musically impaired!), and we just found out that there will be a production of Swan Lake at the end of March! Yeah! I think I am learning more than the kids!
Thanks again for putting this all together!
