Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Somedays I feel like Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof,when he says to God: "I wonder, when it gets too quiet up there, if You are thinking, "What kind of mischief can I play on My friend Tevye?"~

We need to have our septic repaired, we've been able to hold off on it by just having it pumped twice a year but that isn't working anymore. Sometimes the odors drift into the house making life uncomfortable...

We need to somehow squeeze $1500 out of our budget (before Christmas ) to get this repaired. I am really trying not to freak out about it and just trust God will provide. We started a novena last night to St. Joseph too.

Could you please just shoot a quick prayer up for us? I would really, really appreciate it!!

Thanks, friends.

update 11/18

Please send up one more prayer...

My 18 yo son caught me in tears over the septic/money issue and apparently took action. He walked over to visit some of the local farmers he knows and one has a backhoe, another has a pump and they will be here Friday to see if they can just do it for us, we'll be paying for parts only!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please pray they can fix it, I am so hopeful and so grateful for such a sweet son.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
11/23
IT IS DONE!! And the drain field is twice the size, good for a big family. I learned soooo much more about a septic system then I ever cared too. It cost only a few hundred bucks too boot. Whew.
If you care to read further, I hope this isn't too much navel gazing but, I was REALLY humbled by this whole ordeal. Our neighbors are good country folk, Christian but they don't practice anywhere, they're both divorced, remarried to each other, you know the usual bit. We've always gotten along, but we're not like couch-buddies or anything.
When my son went over to ask them if they knew anyone (he's a farmer and owns his own trucking business) who may be able to do the work on our septic for less than $1500, he did not hesitate and said he'd be over to do it. FOR FREE. We paid for tile and parts only.Our neighbor and his buddy, along with my dh and 3 sons, worked for 3 days in the muck and the you-know-what until it was done. As I reflected on it, I was so ashamed of myself. I would never have helped a neighbor I hardly knew for 3 days in a septic field OR have given up my dh's weekend for it either. It has really left me thinking, some good folk stepped up to help us, (thank you ) I pray I will be that willing and generous someday.
Thank you for your prayers! They were put to work!!
For us, it's new tires for my husband's car before TOO much snow hits. Praying for you, Maddie.
Praying Maddie for this! Love your Tevye reference, we love our Fiddler on the Roof and I know those sort of Tevye moments!
Thank you so much ladies!
This is particularly frustrating as our priest is quickly becoming a regular guest. ((sigh)) My children really need to see "that beautiful collar" in their lives on a regular basis, ya know? Wondering if the devil is at work here!
Many prayers for you Maddie! These times can be so tough and then to have an added monkey wrench thrown in there...you've got my sympathy and understanding! (And of course prayers!)
