Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'd like to try and make peppermint bark again this year, to use as gifts. But last year I had problems with the layers not staying together.

Can anyone help? I had quite a bit I had to keep back for us. And the frustration of taking time to make a gift and have it not work really undid me. I know you all understand that

Thanks.

OK, I haven't made this.. and but I do make fudges and other candies from scratch. My guess is that your layers cooled too fast rather than melding. So your bottom layer may have been too cold and then your top layer too cool.. so that it chilled to fast when put on the other chocolate.

Thanks, Jodie. Some of the recipes I used warned about the 2 layers mixing if the first one wasn't set enough. I'm not sure how to gauge this....

Hi Tami!
Sometimes I find it easier not to put the chocolate down in layers at all, but to drop it in patches, kind of checkerboard style , then mix it up with a butter knife before it sets...sometimes less is more! Hope it goes well!

Thanks, Veronika. Sounds like making it marble-like. I'll keep that in mind.
